Born an 80's baby on May 3rd , 1986, Known a.k.a. David Moore, showed
drive and musical talent from a young age. Coming from a family with
multiple talents, music was an easy choice for young Known. Spending
time between a young mother and drug addicted father only helped to push
Known into the introspective position he would use to master his unique
writing style. First experiencing hip-hop in the form of artists such
as Dr. Dre, 2pac and Rakim, Known had a very Westcoast smooth flow yet
eastcoast lyrical ruggedness embedded in his delivery. First performing
under the name Jaxamar, he would start recording his own songs at age 13
which led to his first live performance at the soul food festival in
front of a crowd of over 2000. Though his first show was a rough start,
he would not be deterred, Known had found his passion. He would go on to
record and push his music all through his formative years, finally
releasing a mixtape hosted by an up and coming Pitbull, titled, "Back by
Popular demand vol. 2" in 2004. Though his attention to music never
faulted, his school and home life were spiraling out of control. Finally
after several moves and placements, he left school for good at the age
of 17 , instead choosing to use a life of crime as a way of survival.
Multiple felony arrests finally concluded with Known spending several
stints in different prisons. During those tough years as a young adult,
his one constant remained music. With each verse his writing grew more
intense and wicked, with each performance his voice more rugged, his
energy more raw. Bouncing from several names from Jaxamar to Known
Felon, he finally settled on Known to draw in a larger fan base
previously isolated due to his rough following of supporters and
criminal minded epics. While playing the back game of cat and mouse with
both local law and other agencys, he amassed quite a collection of
music, written both in and out of prison. Following his final release he
collaborated with Ruben Medrano of Movement Music, an already
established local label and hip-hop collective. With Movement Music
Known flourished, releasing the breakout out collaborative mixtape
"night and Day", with Las Vegas' pride, Roddy Pype. With Roddy and Ruben
at his side, Known would hone in his skill, presenting an almost rock
and roller dark energy, controlling crowds with the intensity of his
flows, yet drawing them in with witty , seemless lyrics. It was during
this span of growth he began performing both as a entrancing opener for
major artists as well as a solid stand alone headlining artist. The
young independent has already performed and worked with established
music personalities such as The game, Bone Thugs n Harmony, Paul Wall,
Haystak, Keak da Sneak, Mike Jones, Lil Flip, Tech N9ne and more! Now,
after a sabbatical away from music to regain his once clear cut focus
and passion, Known is once again making a push to become an established
industry leader, this time with a depth and realness rarely seen in
todays mediocre music collective. With a ocean of tracks and mixtapes
ready to be released leading up to a highly anticipated debut studio
album, a regional tour, acting role and much more, 2013 seems destined
to be one where Known becomes exactly that.
